The Orange and Black Newspaper attended CMU Media Day on March 6th and won various awards in multiple categories. CMU Media Day is held every single year and is a chance for reporters, photographers and editors to be able to attend classes in order to become an even better journalist. The awards below were awarded based on the hard work of all of the Orange and Black staff members who are continuously working to improve the quality of our publications.

1st Place: Opinion Writing-Marilyn Rice for “Let’s Talk about Sex”

1st Place: Sports Writing-Luke Aubert for “Challenger Baseball”

1st Place: Graphic Illustration-Mason Toth

1st Place: Best News Website-Orange and Black

2nd Place: Graphic Illustration- Mason Toth

2nd Place: Newspaper/Newsmagazine Page Design- Christina Greswit and Grace Bumgarner

2nd Place Best Overall Newspaper/Newsmagazine-Large School-Orange and Black

3rd Place: Cartooning- Haley Flores

3rd Place: Feature Writing,Large School- Sam Gillaspie for “Freshman Academy”
