World Language Day

Thirteen of Junction’s French club members have been preparing for World Language Day at the University of Northern Colorado since the beginning of this semester. This event will be on April 17 and for French teacher Jodee Cronk, this will be one of her several times attending.

Junior, Lizzette Gorsuch, has been in French club for the past three years and is currently a co president. This will be her first year attending world language day and she is excited to compete.

“I’ll be singing Le Festine by Camille,” Gorsuch said.

Lizzette, was the one person chosen to represent Junction in the individual competition.

“I’ve been practicing since the fall when Mrs. Cronk played us this and said well somebody should sing this at world language day and so I decided to sing it and I’ve been practicing with my choir teacher a little too,” Gorsuch said.

This is one of French clubs’ main events that allows students to practice their French speaking skills outside of school and in a competitive environment.

The Clubs favorite event is the cultural song and dance competition which everyone participates in together

“Traditionally other schools will do things that are somewhat traditional like sing sings or do traditional folk dances, we prefer to kind shake things up, so this year we have a montage of a variety of songs like rap,” Mrs. Cronk Said.

Usually, they are awarded top three for their creativity and are hoping to do the same this year.
