Swingin’ Sweets 2025, a Grand Junction High School Jazz Band event, will celebrate the holidays by bringing the Christmas Spirit.
Swingin’ sweets will be held from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, in the GJHS commons. This will be a community event with music, dancing, a craft fair, and desserts with free admission for all.
“Invite people to come over, because it’s really just a free event. If you like listening to jazz, I would recommend going to it,” said GJHS sophomore and jazz band member Koel Medrano.
The music this year will feature a wide variety of songs from the Beatles to Shrek. There will be roughly 45 songs in total played by three jazz bands.
“I think it’s going to be great. The whole deal behind it was that we’re offering a dance that’s open to the public,” said GJHS band director Isaac Lavadie.
In addition to there being desserts, including gluten-free options, and a craft fair, there will be booths. Among the people setting up the booths will be the Family and Consumer Science students, the orchestra and GJHS orchestra director Nicole Roos, and GJHS French teacher Jodee Cronk.
