New GJHS counselor Dustin Giesenhagen is often seen smiling around campus. He is one of a number of new staff members at GJHS this fall.

New Grand Junction High School staff and teachers are thrilled to be here.

The new teachers and staff for 2022-23 include: William Fechter (Social Studies), Brodie Smith (Special Education), Katherine Moore (P.E./Health), Caleb Burgesser (Special Education), Dustin Giesenhagen (Counselor), Sydni Brandon (P.E.), Weston Brady (Business), Kara Riddle (Business), Heather O’Brien (Assistant Principal), Laura Trusty (Special Education), Jaime Nau (SSN Para/Teacher Aid), and Deeandra Ervin (SSN Para/Teacher Aid).

“I’m super excited and I feel fortunate to be back here,” said Dustin Giesenhagen, new GJHS counselor.

Giesenhagen was at GJHS a couple years back, and didn’t really enjoy his time as a freshman counselor. He is happy to be back and in a new position.

GJHS also has a new assistant principal, Heather O’Brien. She has also returned to Grand Junction High School. She used to be a student and a teacher here.

“What I see happening is phenomenal teachers, giving their best efforts to students. And then I see really good kids,” said O’Brien.

Not only are the new staff members super excited to be at GJHS, but there are also some new teachers who are looking forward to working with the school.

“I really like it [the school], and the staff is great,” said Kara Riddle, new GJHS business teacher.
