The second annual Grand Junction High School Capstone Night is set for May 4.

The event, which features presentations from Agents of Change, AP Research and Career and Technical Education (CTE) students, will start at 6 p.m. and end at 7:30 p.m..

“It’s a great way for our school to showcase what our kids are doing, so community members come in, parents come in, friends come in, and it gives the kids a chance to show the cool things we do in this building,” said GJHS Agents of Change and AP Research teacher Jodee Cronk.

Although students are not required to present, they are highly encouraged to do so if they are an Agent of Change or in AP Research. These presentations are about topics such as proposed inclusiveness and improved school programs.

“I think it’s really cool to show other people what I’ve been able to do. I think it’s informative to other people to see the level of dedication that comes out of these programs, and it encourages people to join these programs,” said GJHS senior Neil Scott, who will give two presentations on Capstone Night.

The event will take place in the GJHS building in various rooms, and family members and students are allowed to be in attendance for the presentations.

“I’m giving two presentations; my AP Research presentation on looking at a ventilator pump for premature infants, and then for my [Agents Of Change] I’m looking at a research sheet I made for concurrent students,” said Scott.

The event is organized by GJHS head of Academies and math teacher Meghan Foster, and it is her second year organizing the event.
