The second annual Grand Junction High School athletic hall of fame ceremony will take place 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at GJHS
“It is important to highlight former tiger athletes, and highlight current student athletes,” said GJHS social studies teacher Steven Woytek, an organizer for the hall of fame induction ceremony.
This year there will be a total of nine inductees: Teo Prinster (Basketball 1946), Ron Leitch (Track and Field 1958), Vernon Dickey (1963), Steve Cyphers (Football 1973), Pete Cyphers (Football, Baseball, Wrestling 1975), Carol Elliott Wilder (Tennis 1986), Monte Montgomery (Golf 1988), Zachary Piper (1994), and Sean Kelly (Basketball 1995).
Last year was the first hall of fame ceremony and the alumni community came out to support this event.
“The alumni have supported this event by making up the board and deciding who actually gets into the GJHS hall of fame,” Woytek said.
Tickets to the Induction Ceremony are $15 per person.
