With the start of the 2025-26 school year, GJHS has danced its way to a new cheer team.
The poms team is a separate, reinstated team from the cheerleading team the school has seen in the past, with new players and a new coach. The poms team will be performing at the school and its various sports events.
“The school felt like it needed this, and they went for it this year. The school needed a team that would perform for the audience that goes and watches GJHS sports,” said Marsh.
The season started on Aug. 11th, and will end mid-February. The 16 players on the team will compete against other poms teams across Colorado. They will also perform at school events, including assemblies.
Jana Boies is the new poms coach for GJHS.
“I am very excited for this season because I was a substitute for D51 for about 4 years, and this is my first time being a coach for GJHS,” said Boies.
To participate in the poms team, there will be a fee of $150, and tryouts will be for incoming 9th-12th graders every spring.
