Grand Junction High School students will now be getting out at 1:15 p.m. on Fridays.
“I would say it’s good. This will make me want to come to school,” said GJHS sophomore Azzariyah Truitt.
The new proposed bell schedule moves early release from Monday to Friday, and gives an extra hour and thirty minutes off, releasing students at 1:15 instead of 2:45. Block days will remain the same; odd on Wednesday and even on Thursday.
“Middle school and high school will get out at 1:15, and elementary gets out at 2:00. The reason why they’re doing that is so that teachers can have professional development time to work with their departments to better work [teaching] the students,” said GJHS assistant principal Josh Warriner.
This change will be adapted across all District 51 schools.
