Tigers go to state for Wrestling

Four GJHS students are going to state in Denver

Mercedes Miller is the only female GJHS wrestling student going to state.

A total of four GJHS wrestling students are going to state in 2024.

Three Grand Junction High School men’s wrestling students, seniors Murphy Harris (126 pounds), Tanner Roahrig (132) and Amadaeus Gurule-Valles (144) qualified.

Sophomore Mercedes Miller (105) is the only GJHS female wrestler going to state. Miller is part of the District 51 combined girls wrestling team known as the Phoenix that took first place in regionals.

The Colorado Wrestling State Championship Tournament will take place on Feb. 15-17 in the Ball Arena in Denver.

The GJHS baseball team charges out to take the field in a preseason game at Suplizio Field. Three Tigers baseball players, sophomore Andrew Henderson, senior Brett Woytek and junior Will Applegate, talk before Woytek starts pitching. The Tigers open play in the Class 4A state playoffs on Saturday in a four-team regional at Windsor High School.
GJHS baseball heads to state
Sydni Brandon coached the Grand Junction High School girls basketball team for two seasons. She is being replaced by 12-year Central High School coach Mary Doane, who will also teach business classes at GJHS.
GJHS hires new girls basketball coach
GJHS senior Atahlia Mills runs the 100-meter hurdles at track meet held on March 8 at Stocker Stadium.
GJHS spring sports superstars
GJHS battled PHS on Thursday March 7. Students from around the valley gathered to cheer on their teams in the first game of the season. The next Junction girls varsity game is Sat. March 9. against Eagle Valley High School at 1 p.m. This game will be held at Eagle Valley High School. Pictured above is junior Sedona Czarnecki during the first half of the game.
