Grand Junction High School boys golf made the Tigers proud by placing second in the Class 4A state tournament.
The tournament was held over two days at The Bridges Golf and Country Club in Montrose on Oct. 3 and 4.
“I feel I could have done better. We got second as a team and I’m super pleased with that but next year’s goal is definitely to win,” said GJHS sophomore Hunter Simmons.
The team finished with a two-day final score of 446. The top three scores from the team count each day.
“We had the hardest regional in the state and we found a way to win that. I was really proud of how they represented Junction,” said GJHS athletic director Steven Woytek.
The last time a team at GJHS has placed higher than second place at state was in 2018 when the Tiger wrestling team won first place. The GJHS cheer team placed third in state in spring 2023.
