GJHS Boys Golf Team Places Third At 5A State
The golf course grass still wet from last night’s sprinklers, the clubs that follow close behind and the endless amounts of golf balls are all too familiar for the Grand Junction High School boy’s golf team.
On October third, 2017, the GJHS boys golf tea, participated in the 5A golf championships. The team consisted of Canon Olkowski, Blake Schneiter, Isaiah Mallory and Carson Kerr. The team took third overall, behind Regis Jesuit High School in first and Cherry Creek High School in second.
“It’s the best finish GJHS has had since 1985 when the team won state,” Carson Kerr, freshman, said. The high finish means a lot for the team and motivates the team to continue to do better next year.
Canon Olkowski, junior, placed high individually, placing third. Olkowski’s been golfing since he was five and is currently verbally committed to CU to play golf.
“I’m going into next year motivated. The goal is to win state individually next year,” Olkowski said.
