The Grand Junction High School baseball team hoped to end the season with a bang, preferably two of them.
The Tigers, who finished the season 16-7, also finished their last two games of the season facing their rival Fruita Monument High School.
“We’ll have more focus during the entirety of the game, and come out firing from the start to the end of the game,” said GJHS junior baseball player Sean Witt.
The first game was played on May 6, ending in a 5-4 win in the eighth inning. The second game was played on May 9 in a 3-6 loss. FMHS finished their season with a record of 14-9.
“I think it’s been great, one of our best years in a while. Everyone’s playing for each other and the atmosphere’s good,” said Witt.
Colorado high school baseball teams will find out about playoffs on Wednesday, May 14.
