The famous basketball team, the Harlem Wizards, are making a trip to Grand Junction High School for a fundraising event.
The Wizards are a basketball team that uses intricate passing and dribbling, paired with fancy dunks to put on an entertaining basketball game. They are comparable to the more well known Harlem Globetrotters.
“We hope people have a great time, and that there’s money raised for their school, and it’s in partnership with our booster club too, so our booster club’s getting support too,” said GJHS Principal Jory Sorensen.
The game will be held in the Grand Junction High School gym on Monday, April 28. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the game will begin at 7 p.m. They will be playing against Sorensen, the staff of Caprock Academy, Yaak Yaak from the Colorado Mesa University men’s basketball team, and D51 Superintendent Brian Hill.
Tickets for students will be $15 and general admission will be $20. There will also be reserved student tickets, which provides special seating and a color team photo of the Wizards for $35. Reserved adult seating is the same price.
Courtside student and adult tickets are also available for $60 and include courtside seating, a pregame meet and greet with the Wizards, and some Harlem Wizards souvenirs including a Courtside Plus pass and a $10 souvenir gift certificate to use at the Harlem Wizards Souvenir Store on game night.
The fundraiser is for Caprock Academy’s facilities and the GJHS booster club.
