The GJHS girls basketball hit a milestone this season, making the playoffs and celebrating 50 years of the program.
The halftime of the Feb. 21 home girls basketball game was filled with nostalgic memories taken over the past half-century of the program, featuring past players and coaches. It was also the final regular season game as the Tigers finished with an 8-15 record.
Basketball players and the six coaches who had participated for over 50 years came to the game to celebrate the special occasion and gathered in the gym. While Junction lost to Durango, they qualified to move on to playoffs with the most wins in five years.
The Tigers will host Longmont in a Class 5A play-in round game at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26.
The boy’s team ended the season with a 12-10 record for a

playoff berth. The Tigers open the 5A playoffs on Friday, also against Longmont.
