Life, liberty and the pursuit of cool math games. This has been recognized as Cool Math Games is once again unblocked by the district.
Since last spring we were forced to take the grave responsibility of replacing Cool Math Games with whatever bootleg options we could find. We went to the depths of HoodaMath and some were even desperate enough to go to UnblockedGames76. Some even sacrificed their Google drive to play Minecraft.
Even through all the sacrifices and new hardships we have experienced through the horrible WiFi in the new building and the general lack of good games to play, we have experienced a huge victory as a district with the unblocking Cool Math Games.
I don’t know why School District 51 unblocked the website after taking our phones and purging the internet of any games we could find. I don’t know why they decided after depriving us of our one true love as a school, that they are now almost randomly unblocking the website.
According to Orange & Black reporter Connor Kinser from May 2024, “On March 13, 2024, an angel fell from the sky. The game site that many students have used with approval for years was blocked by the school district.”
The return of the website was a slow realization. I remember the jubilee vividly as I was in my second hour. Me and my procrastination pals clicked the link, and for once we felt a deep euphoria. Risen from the dead, Cool Math Games returned and this time we hope it is prepared to stay.
Tiny Fishing, Cool Run, Duck Duck Clicker, Fireboy and Watergirl, they are all back. If you didn’t know. Now you do. Speak the good news on the rooftops, speak of the return, speak of the euphoria and jubilee, speak of our beloved game, speak of the dopamine from the games that you lost. Now is the time to spend your time with something that was forced away from us.
Now be weary. If we are not careful the district can and will take our beloved website away once again. We have our beautiful freedoms and not so civil liberties to procrastinate on Tiny Fishing. However, if we want the class of tomorrow to see the freedoms we have then we must make it our unduly mission to ensure the permeance of Cool Math Games.
So don’t tell D51 Superintendent Dr. Brian Hill or the Executive Director of Technology Dan Burke. Let’s keep it our little secret 🙂
