The Grand Junction High School theater department is putting on the musical ‘She Kills Monsters’ as both the first production this school year and the first production in the new auditorium.
Opening night will be held 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, followed by two more shows 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16. All shows will be located in the GJHS auditorium. Tickets are $10 for students and $15 for adults and can be purchased online with a scan of the QR code or in person at the time of the show.
“I really like working with this specific group of people, everyone’s really fun and I enjoy working with them on the show,” said junior Marek Fought, who is in his second year of theater at GJHS.
The production is being directed by GJHS theater teacher Bryan Carlson. Lead actors include junior Lillian Goldberg in the role of Agnes, sophomore Sydney Wertman in the role of Tilly, and senior Joshua Carter in the role of Chuck.
‘She Kills Monsters’ is a drama-comedy about Agnes Evans, a young woman who loses both her parents and little sister in a car crash. Not being very close with her sister when she was alive, Agnes embarks on an adventure to get to know her sister better by playing a Dungeons & Dragons module that she had written, and discovers a world of things she’d never imagined.
“I’m very excited. I have a great group of kids this year and can’t wait to see how much they grow in talent,” said GJHS teacher and director Bryan Carlson.
