After Grand Junction High School’s win last year in the Battle of the Cats, a second match is coming up soon
The Battle of the Cats is a basketball game where Junction’s staff plays against Fruita Monument High School’s staff with students in attendance to support them. The game serves as a fundraiser for charity and is based on student attendance.
The Battle of the Cats is organized by student council members from both schools and was hosted at GJHS last year. It is quickly becoming a tradition. GJHS staff beat Fruita in the inaugural game and raised money through ticket sales and halftime activities.
“[This game] should go the same. We’re still Junction, we still have high standards. Last year we set the standard, so I think the score will be pretty much the same this year,” said GJHS teacher Joe Meinhart who will play in the game again this year.
The money raised during the game will be donated to the charity of the winning team’s choice.
This year’s Battle of the Cats game will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, at Fruita Monument High School.
