Grand Junction High School will continue its annual haunted house despite being in a new building.
The haunted house will be held on Saturday, Oct. 26, and Wednesday, Oct. 30, in the closed East Middle School building. It will run from 7 to 11 p.m.
“We are hosting it at East Middle School because we’ve hosted it at E.M.S. a few times and we wanted a scary theme, with it being abandoned and left behind,” GJHS teacher and ALT (Advanced Leadership Team) leader Brodie Smith said.
East Middle School is at 830 Gunnison Ave. The entrance will be on the south side and it will cost $5 paid in cash only per person. The exit will be on the north side of the school building.
“There will be seven rooms found in the haunted house, some are the person exploring the room, others will be a play in other rooms,” Smith said.
The rules at the haunted house will be no food or drinks inside the house and there will be no dress code.
As for Halloween day itself, the dress code during school is that students can wear costumes but will not be allowed to have weapons, face paint or hoods, or anything that will prevent staff members from being able to identify students.
On the same Halloween night, Thursday, Oct. 31, there will be a GJHS home football game at 7 p.m. in Stocker Stadium. It is the last game of the season and senior night. The theme of the game will be costumes and the GJHS marching band will play a rendition of the Michael Jackson song “Thriller.”
