This piece of art was named Joyful Idea and was made by Oscar Chamberlain. It was placed as best in show.

Many pieces of art from the Art Center are students from Grand Junction High School.

The art show was at the Art Center of Western Colorado. The address is 1083 7th St. It was the 61st art fair held there. It brings together D51 students from High Schools and Middle Schools.

One of the many students to receive a ribbon was Oscar Chamberlain, who is a freshman at GJHS. He made a double exposure picture. This is something that inspired him.

“I found a graffiti cave a long time ago with a friend and I thought it showed a lot of like color and positivity,” Chambers said.

Another student from GJHS that received a ribbon is Tirzah Ridgely, a sophomore at GJHS. She made a ceramic bust.

“I had a dream…and I love flowers,” said Ridgely.

The judges who were there to give ribbons for each section of the art show were community members who are involved in art. They were either professional artists or had a background in art, according to Sean Henry, an art teacher here at GJHS.

Every high school in the Grand Valley competed. So Grand Junction High School, Fruita High School, Central High School, Palisade High School, Caprock Academy, Holly Family, and R5. Overall, GJHS got 27 ribbons in total.

Middle schools, Redlands, West, Independence Academy, Grand Mesa, Caprock Academy, and Mount Garfield, were also a part of the art show.
