Grand Junction High School’s Homecoming dance and the events surrounding it are approaching.
Due to the new building and lack of space, there will be no annual Homecoming bonfire this year. However, there will be a new party after the traditional parade on Sept. 13 from 7-9 p.m. as an alternative.
The Lost Junction Band, a band local to GJHS, will be performing live on the school’s West Lawn immediately after the parade. There will be food trucks, with the first 300 students provided with a free item from one truck.
The bonfire is expected to return next year. GJHS Senior Class President Kaylee Kraft said, “In future years there will be a bonfire again, however Mr. Sorensen (new GJHS principal) wants it to be more of a rally type thing, with music and more structure.”
Homecoming week is Sept. 11-16. Many events and activities will take place before the night of the dance:
- Monday will feature the Ruff ‘n Tuff and Powder Puff games after school. To sign up to play in these games, you can find QR codes around the school.
