The young Tiger softball team started the fall season and hopes to work hard towards a good season.
The GJHS girls softball has an overall record of 1 win and 4 losses to open the new season.
“I feel very excited to be back on the field with these girls and these coaches,” said GJHS junior catcher Kaylie Kellerby.
The Tiger softball team had a record of 10-12 last season and just barely missed the class 4A playoffs for the 2022 season. This year’s team consists of no seniors.
“I know that if we all work hard and leave everything out on the field we will have success,” said Kellerby.
GJHS sophomore Alexis Walpole struck out six batters in six innings in the Aug. 25 game against Rocky Mountain High School from Fort Collins. She allowed seven hits, four runs (one earned) and one walk in the 4-1 loss.
The Tigers play a doubleheader at Durango on Saturday, Sept. 2. The next home game is scheduled for 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, against Montrose at Kronkright Field.
