GJHS teacher Katie Moore is one of the coaches for the adapted basketball games to be held on March 3 in the GJ gymnasiums.

The annual adapted basketball game should be a fun experience for the students participating and for staff and students watching.

This year’s adapted basketball game is scheduled for March 3. Students and teachers are excited to see what it will be like. All School District 51 schools will have students participating in the adapted basketball game.

“Expect it to be quite a different basketball game. Our students who are participating range from really average needs to very high and severe needs,” said coach Katie Moore, a GJHS teacher of unified PE classes.

When GJHS adaptive student Brooklyn Martinez was asked what she likes about playing in the game, she shared “The whole school cheers for you and says your name.”

GJHS students can attend the games to support players.

“I’m a little nervous because I don’t really want to be in front of everybody. But yeah I feel good,” said GJHS freshman Eliza Bell about being in the game for her first time.

The adapted basketball games will be held on Thursday, March 3, from 9 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. The game will be in both of the Grand Junction High School gymnasiums.
