UPDATED TIMES: Free community Chromebook distribution in Mesa County

Mesa School District 51 to hand out used computers to anyone in the community

More than 5,000 Chromebooks, like these from a GJHS classroom, will be given away for free to community members soon. Each will be allowed to take up to two computers from distribution at Mesa County Libraries and R-5 High School.

Mesa Valley School District D51 announced that they will be releasing more than 5,000 used Chromebooks to the community.

The times and locations for D51 and Mesa County Libraries to distribute the computers has changed.

Chromebooks will be given to anyone in the community at R-5 High School and several Mesa County Libraries facilities. Each person can pick up two Chromebooks.

The Chromebooks will be distributed:

  • Wednesday, Dec. 7, and Saturday, Dec. 10, from 9 am. to 1 p.m. at Central (in Grand Junction), Clifton and Fruita public library branches.
  • Saturday, Dec. 10, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Central (GJ), Clifton and Fruita public library branches.
  • Wednesday, Dec. 7, from 3 to 6 p.m. at R-5 High School.
  • Thursday, Dec. 8, from 3 to 6 p.m. at R-5 High School.
  • Friday, Dec. 9, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Collbran Branch of the Mesa County Library.

The original distribution date was delayed while school district technology staff prepared the Chromebooks for distribution.
