New Officers in NHS
National Honors Society (NHS) consists of a group of students from a high school and they work together to make the community a better place and by doing that they go out and do service projects around the community and school.
In NHS they have four different positions/officers such as president, vice president, secretary/treasurer, and historian. The advisers of NHS choose who they think will be the best fit for that position/officer.
“I wanted to be an officer because my mom said that it looked good on college application, but I really like working with people and getting things organized, and help to be the best they could be,” Sarah Griffin, junior, said.
Being president, they must keep accurate attendance records and ensure that members of NHS participate fully for the time of the event.
“Being a leader is really important to be and being in a leadership position and being president of other clubs have lended myself to being presidents to other clubs,” Alexia Thompson, junior, said.
Thompson also feels very confident that she will get the position of president because she has a lot of leadership qualities that would help her out to be a good leader (of NHS). She has been part of a lot of varsity sports that have also helped her become a good leader.
Just like everything else in the world there is a little bit of competition. Getting the president position has its own little competition.
“I would love to be the representation of our school and community and would love to make a difference in our NHS community. I would love to be president because I feel I have a lot more of new ideas that they haven’t implemented yet that could impact the club,” Thompson said.
NHS has a bright future ahead of them with these new and intelligent officers.
