Upcoming GJHS Wrestling Tournament
This coming weekend the GJHS wrestling team will be going to Cherokee Hill High School to wrestle in a varsity regional tournament. This tournament is huge for GJHS because it determines which wrestlers will compete in the state tournament the following weekend at the Pepsi Center.
These boys have been working very hard to try and earn a spot at going to state and only a select few can go.
“I feel I am going to do very well at this tournament because I am dedicated to go to state this year since I made it last year,” Dylan Martinez, junior, said.
Most of all they are in it for the experience, to have the feeling of a big crowd cheering for you and knowing that you have worked very hard to earn a spot to go to regionals and have a fun time with your teammates.
“I’m pretty excited to go to regionals because I have worked hard this season to make it this far. I can’t wait to go and compete against wrestlers that have worked just as hard as me and are going to give there all to try and beat me,” Hunter Tobiasson, sophomore, said.
For those who have been to regionals in the past are ready to take on their competitors and feel very confident and have a strong feeling they will advance to state.
“I’m not too nervous for this weekend, but since I made it last year and advanced to state I am very confident and ready for this weekend. I have high hopes for our team this weekend,” Josiah Rider, junior, said.
Can’t wait to see what our GJHS tiger wrestling will do this weekend but with the attitude they have, it sounds like they are going to do very well
