Grand Junction High School is set to receive a major upgrade — new tennis courts featuring a GJHS tennis legacy monument.
GJHS tennis coach and math teacher Brandon Gregg said, “There’s going to be 6 new tennis courts, really nicely made. They’ll be finished around June-July and it’s only for our Grand Junction High School students.”
The monument will be constructed by Carlson Memorials, with assistance from Shaw Construction. The monument is a brick structure that honors GJHS’ strong tennis history. The tennis legacy monument will be placed near the new courts.
This monument is a way for students, alumni, and community members to purchase a plaque to have their name engraved and recognized.
Gregg explained the reason why he got a plaque: “I played here over 20 years ago. It’s a big part of my friends and family. My mom was like, you have to be on the monument. All of my friends are also going to purchase one.”
Gregg has coached for 25 years outside of school. This will be his 3rd year coaching at Grand Junction High School.
This renovation is more than just an upgrade to our school’s facilities—it’s about honoring the legacy of our tennis program.
Gregg said, “In Grand Junction High School our legacy and community are very big, there’s a lot of alumni and families that go back decades.”
The price to get your name and graduation year or a family members engraved onto the legacy monument is $100. You can purchase a brick through the GJHS booster club website.
