Students at GJHS expressing them selves and their stories through art

Dante Stewart

Oh his left arm/shoulder is a shield piece that represents his heritage and has special meaning. The cracks in the plates shows that damage has already been done, but he remains strong. “It’s an impenetrable barrier that shows I’m always fighting and protecting. It’s just a reminder that I can fight through anything.”

Rider Black

On his left wrist is a serpent design with two wrenches wrapped around a nail (mostly finished). “I always forgot to wear my medical alert bracelet. I always have my sleeves rolled up anyways, so I thought I’d just get a tattoo. I chose the wrenches and the nail because I’m a mechanic at heart and both of these things is who I am.”

On his left rib is a moth. His tattoo artist helped him pick the design so the design itself doesn’t have any special meaning to him. “It reminds me every day that I’m resilient. It’s on my ribs because it’s easy to hide and I can still see it every day. If you get a tattoo, do it for you and not anyone else.”
